Farm Blog - The Growth of August. Market ordering

Hello from the gardens, Well the weather continues to surprise! Now looking for sweaters and coats for morning and evening. The plants are certainly happy after the moisture and seeds like spinach are starting to germinate. These incredible sunflowers are truely a surprise. They were planted from seed first of June and we didn't water them all season. They grew but not very much but then look what happened with some rain.

It's been interesting observing the gardens through the extreame heat. Some crops either stopped growing or vines that were setting mostly male flowers so less fruit. These sunflowers I believe sent their roots down deep in the soil to reach water and then could stretch up even higher with their extensive root system to support the height. Wow, estimating at about 12' tall for some.

New this week we have available, even more sweet peppers available, slicing tomatoes, large leaf arugula, mixed salad greens. We will also have cut flowers available or jars that you can go and cut your own!

We have been starting cool season transplants and looking forward to having them for sale towards the end of the month.

Garlic for eating and storage is getting low in stock.

Please bring back baskets, containers, egg cartons, even bags!

For delicious Niagara spray free fruit, we have:
A sweet peach called White Lady (free stone & last week), an awesome orange peach called Vivid, fresh Apricots (last week), sweet Orzark Red plum and Black Amber plum.

If you are interested in larger quantities, please reach out to me, mogfarm@gmail.com.
Next week is possibly the last week for peaches and we will have the last of the nectarines. Sadly the donut peaches are all gone for the season.
