Rewilding Education: Farm & Forest School

The warm, spring sun is shining, plants are sprouting and our forest is waking up. Rewilding Education is excited to announce that new outdoor educational programs are coming to our community! Our mission is to create a space where children have an opportunity to become deeply connected to the natural world, to one another, and to themselves. Our focus is on educating the whole child: heads, hearts and hands.

"Open yourself to up to nature, and you will be shown a whole magical world of adventure."

Our programs expertly blend Forest School philosophy with garden- based education, and are inspired by Waldorf, Montesorri and Reggio Emilia approaches to education. We were founded by an Ontario Certified Teacher, with over 20 years of experience educating children.

Our summer camp programs provide a safe, fun space that nurtures a child's desire to be outdoors! Every day will include activities based on the needs of the gardens (what needs to be planted, weeded or harvested), and exploring the forest on the property. No two days are ever the same! Our days are dynamic depending on the ever-changing natural environment of the farm and forest (evidence of animals, emergence of new flowers, what needs to be planted, weeded or harvested, insect activity, effects of weather on the land etc.) We will explore the gardens, learn about biodiversity, how to plant seeds, and what plants need to thrive while working hands on in the garden. We will also spend time exploring the forest on-site, building forts, and playing in the ever popular 'Mud Kitchen'. The educators will provide opportunities for outdoor skill development, cooperative games, crafts, and LOTS of movement. The day's activities begin and end in our gathering space where we will share stories, songs, poems, or plays. Educators also add to the day's learning by introducing provocations such as simple tools and loose parts used for building, planting and creating. We spend all our time outdoors, rain or shine! In the case of inclement weather, we have a safe, indoor space to take shelter or take a break from the sun's heat or the falling rain. Campers are to bring 2 healthy snacks, lunch and 2 full water bottles to fuel our bodies for the day. Join us for a week of growing, exploring and fun!
