Farm Blog - Summer Wishes,

Hello from the gardens, We are ever hopeful for a calm and productive summer season ahead. With the Summer Solstice this Friday it marks the longest day of the year and the official start of summer. "Sun is shining. Weather is sweet. Make you wanna move your dancing feet." – Bob Marley

Getting lots of garlic scapes and they're available on the order form. Next week we'll start picking "green garlic". It's fresh bulbs that aren't ready for storage but a delicious early treat.

Asparagus is a perennial vegetable so it comes back year after year. That being said it will soon be time to stop picking it so the plant has time to soak up the summer sun and put lots of energy back into the roots so it can produce next year. This is the same for Rhubarb, so get it while you can and consider freezing some for a winter treat.

This week: Red Frilly Kale and lots of Rhubarb. New this week Garlic Scapes which are like garlicy green onions, useful for stir fry, soups, pesto and more.
There's, asparagus, less greens but some salad mix bags, fresh herbs, and farm fresh eggs.
The red kale is delicious, soft and easy to use in salads, stir fry, soup, quiche and more.

Reminder

We are not planning to open the Market Stand this season for a number of reasons. Our plan is to transition to a more interactive approach where we will not only offer online ordering but also facilitated U-Pick opportunities starting in July. Stay tuned!

We will continue offering the weekly order form option as the way to what's available from the greenhouse, outdoors and of course the hens. Thank You for supporting small scale growing and community.
