Farm Blog - Snow time, the beauty and the challenge

Hello,May the snow be light and you have all the help that you need! Wow, I can't remember a December like this for so many years. I recall the joy as a child waking up to a huge snow fall like this and heading outside to play for hours.
Now it's how do we get the car out to the shop for it's appointment to get a tire sensor fixed? How much shovelling needs to happen and is the snow building up on the greenhouse?

Part of the wisdom gathered over the years is accepting what is and the challenge (opportunity) to do that without judging it to be good or bad. In the simplest version, it is what it is.
Much of this is for my own sanity as working with nature will either break you or humble you (me). For someone who loves making plans, lists and knowing what's going on it took me some time (and pain) to accept that I am not in charge..... except for how I choose to respond!

So along with the logistics of dealing with the conditions I also take time to appreciate the beauty and the quiet of the snow covered land.

Lots of changes to the produce that's available. Only a few cabbages and red onions still available. Only russet potatoes available and no more after what we have is gone.

This is a season and time of change. May your heart be filled with the joy of this season, the appreciation for what is and with hope for how we reimagine our world and community.

Please bring back baskets, containers, egg cartons, even bags!
