Happy end of April, well it's been an interesting ride through April with a little bit of every kind of weather. Slowly the gardens are starting to come alive and I love this time just before the leaves unfurl on all those trees. It's like watching magic happen.
In the forest the trilliums are ready to pop and the ramps (wild leeks) are starting to put on a show.
New this week we'll have bags of fresh greens available, arugula, seasonal salad mix, large leaf spinach and miners lettuce! These cool loving greens are sweet, crisp and oh so packed full of goodness and flavour.
If Miners Lettuce is new to you, check out www.ediblewildfood.com/miners-lettuce.aspx
"According to a study in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, 100 grams of miner's lettuce contains a third of your daily requirement of vitamin C, 22 percent of vitamin A, and 10 percent of iron. During the gold rush, miners ate them to prevent scurvy, giving the species its common name."
It loves growing in the greenhouse during the early spring and will disappear when it get's hot. Kids big and small tend to love this mild, succulent green!
For this week we have items for your gardening activities available to order,
the big bales of potting soil, smaller bags of garden soil and the amazing organic weed free compost we bag.
We even have seedlings available in 4 cell packs, new this week: Salad mix seedlings( all the above on the Market order form)
Great crops to plant now, spinach, peas, arugula, radishes, mustards, lettuces.
May you find time to rest outside and soak up the sounds, smells and change in the air.

It also tastes a little different this year as the salt used is super high in many minerals, called Sacred Salts naturescargocanada.ca/product-category/sacred-salts
