Farm Blog - Market Order form, September delicious days

Happy September, may it be a month of smooth transitions with back to school, more sweaters and crisp mornings. Lots of moisture these days but looking forward to those beautiful, colourful days of fall.

The gardens are a great example of endings and beginnings. The zucchini plants are "melting" between the moisture and squash bugs. The cucumber plants are looking a little wilted and slowing down and first crop of cabbage all done.
The beginnings are the delicious crisp radish, the crunchy greens and the winter squash starting to get big and closer to maturity. I've seeded more cilantro and dill. More cabbage is now in the ground for our fall sauerkraut and the Nappa cabbage seedlings sizing up.

Other garden pieces are no sweet peppers for this week to let the fruit have more time on the plants. So many hot peppers this year but challenges for the sweet peppers. Each year just like each season is always different.
There's large leaf arugula available this week as well as stevia (in the herb section).

This is the time of garden abundance and a great time to eat what you can, freeze, can or dry what you can.

Beans and cucumbers as well as Rainbow Chard and Kale are in abundance this week.

Kale and Chard are on sale for $3.50/200g bunch. So great to freeze some for the winter and I love the chard stalks as celery.

There's round green beans, then the tasty Roma flat green beans and a lovely round yellow pole bean ready.
Each size $1 off

Then there's cucumbers, with so many different types. The pickling cucumbers, field cucumbers, white martini cucumbers, english cucumbers and middle eastern (like a half size english).
Half price for every type except pickling (Last Week)

What a delicious time of year.
A sweet treat is that there's a fresh harvest of honey. Now available 330g jar - $10, 500g jar - 13 and 1kg jar - $25

The delicious fruit this year from Palentines orchard is coming to an end.

This week: White Lady peaches, Orange Coral Star peaches (freestone and super sweet) as well as Black Amber plums (similar to the taste of yellow plums) and we'll make mixed plum containers this week!
- as well a new orange flesh Nectarine.
