Happy August, What beautiful summer days, and so much rain. Everything is growing rapidly and looking well, except for the bugs, lots of bugs. With ideal conditions there's so many cucumber beetles, squash bugs and the ravaging of the Japanese beetles. Ah the ever balancing act of working with nature and the sanity saving mindset that all works out in the end.
Beans and cucumbers are in abundance this week. There's the tasty Roma flat green beans and now a lovely round yellow bush bean ready for the picking. So sorry I missed putting the price on the order form for beans last week!
Then there's cucumbers, with so many different types. The pickling cucumbers, field cucumbers, white martini cucumbers, english cucumbers and middle eastern (like a half size english).
So many are ready, I'll try to put some for ordering and then there may be extra available for you to get when you pick up.
What a delicious time of year.
A sweet treat is that there's a fresh harvest of honey. Now available 330g jar - $10, 500g jar - 13 and 1kg jar - $25
The delicious fruit has returned this year from Palentines orchard who choose to grow as naturally as possible.
- use beneficial insects
- focus on soil health
- no or low spray
- pick as close to ripe as possible
- do not use a bleach bath
Bottom line they grow really delicious fruit!
There's freestone Peaches coming up Next Week!
New this week is Nectarines, Silver Gem Nectarines are a white flesh and pink skinned nectarine that is sweet and tasty
Then there's amazing Red Ozark Plums, Yellow Plums, special deal on Small Peaches and even some jars of last years Canned Peaches.
Sorry apricots are all done for the season.
If you are looking for larger quantities, the peaches can be preordered in 25lb boxes.

We have lots of eggs so there's now up to 4 that you can order at a time.
Duck eggs are off the order form for a couple of weeks. Ducks lay a lot of eggs in the spring, some eggs during the summer and fall and rarely during the winter. This is a very natural cycle when you imagine these birds before humans became involved. So we'll have more duck eggs available every 3 weeks to make it easier for people to plan.
